New Promo Uploaded

Just a little something I cooked up while I should’ve been editing MTMJ#8. It’s yet another podcast promo. Feel free to use and/or share with other people you know whose podcasts you enjoy. The more we can get these things circulated, the bigger our community will grow, and the less cranky your Friendly Neighborhood BlindGeek will be. Thanks, and enjoy.

Monkeys Took My Jetpack #7: The Chris-mas Adventure, Part 2

Well, this seems to be the month of possible finalities. Last week, we had what will probably be the final feedback show, and this week, we post the second part of what may be the final holiday special as we currently know them. This is not to say holiday-themed gaming will not occur; it’s just … well, you’ll have to listen to the episode and learn for yourself. As always, your comments both here and on our forums are welcome.

CAST:
BLINDGEEK: GM
CHRIS: Thomas Quinn, the big ol’ grumpy talking bear
JOSH: The Blunderbear
NIKKI: Princess Zephyr
PAT: Hickory & Dickory

Monkeys Took My Jetpack Feedback Show (January 3, 2011)

Welcome to this, the second (and possibly final) Feedback Show. Activities during my vacation were altered in such a way that I was home during game time, so I decided to jump on Skype and hang out with my friends before Taco Time. We had two weeks’ worth of feedback to catch up on, and we dove right in with gusto. We also chose the winner of the Name That Monkey contest, so stick around till the end, because the winner gets announced. It’s a revelation you won’t want to miss!

I beg your pardon as you listen to this issue. I was using my computer’s built-in microphone, and there are some … er … intresting quality peccadilloes which rear their ugly heads. I hope you won’t mind, and I hope you find our solution to the feedback conundrum acceptable. Write all you want. We’ll certainly respond to everything, even if we don’t read it all on the podcast itself. This we promise! The community that has been created here is of the utmost importance to us.

Monkeys Took My Jetpack #6: A Shady Bizness At Hand

Hello, and Happy New Year! Sure, it’s January 3rd, but hey, there’s a lot of year left to be happy, so lateness notwithstanding, my good wishes still apply.

This week, Josh found himself incredibly ill, and therefore unable to game with us … which meant that we could not continue the Chris-mas Adventure, as was our original plan. We’re all happy to report that Josh is feeling much better. I’d gone through some rather depressing incidents that day myself, and so just wasn’t feeling inspired to run anything … which meant we left the door open for something which should have been presented long ago, but has been sitting in limbo for almost a year. It is with great pleasure and about damn time that we give you …

FUNKADELIC FRANKENSTEIN ON THE MEAN STREETS OF MONSTERTOWN!!!!!

True, this is only the first session, but other sessions shall follow as time (and lack of games) permits. Actually, I won’t be able to game for our next session, so unless the gang can finagle a means of recording their Skype session, we may be bringing you FFOTMSOM#2 as next week’s podcast. Time will tell. In the meantime, enjoy this offering. We sure did.

Monkeys Took My Jetpack Feedback Show (December 20, 2010)

Not a whole lot to say about this. Here it is, our first feedback show.

One thing: In our haste to get the feedback read and have time to create characters and play a game (which ultimately didn’t work out, by the way–shame on us), we were a bit remiss in thanking people for their feedback. So let me take this opportunity to thank each one of you for your feedback. And since I fear I might forget someone, just imagine I mentioned you by name and accept our thanks for taking the time to comment on our show in email or in the forum.

We also discuss future plans for our gaming, and discuss a bit out of this awesome gaming book: Play Unsafe.

Back to regular gaming next week. Hope you all had a great WhatyoucallaholidaybetweenNovember27thandDecember30th, and have a Happy New Year as well.

Monkeys Took My Jetpack #5: The Chris-mas Adventure, Part 1

HO HO HO! MERRRRRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Okay, okay, to those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas, think of it as a celebration of the state of mind which is embodied by the notion of peace on Earth and good will toward men. Er … and women. Umm … except with Santa Claus thrown in … Oh, to heck with political correctness! I’m an unapologetic Christmas-centric human being, and if people have nothing better to do with their lives than to get offended by that, then there are plenty of other podcasts which may suit their delicate sensibilities much better. Yes, I said it.

But enough about that.

This week not only marks our Christmas adventure, but game night happened to fall on Chris’s birthday, so he got to pick our game, and he chose to continue Zorcerer of Zo, and asked me to run it with the Christmas theme. You can judge for yourself whether or not that was a good decision on his part. But enough rambling from me. Here’s the download link. Enjoy.

Cast:
BLINDGEEK: GM
CHRIS: Thomas Quinn
JOSH: Listen and find out!
NIKKI: Princess Zephyr

Monkeys Took My Jetpack #4: Stop Dragon My Heart Around

Here we are again with another go-‘round with the Gregarious Gamers! In this issue, we’re back to the Zantabulous Land of Zo, where we conclude the 2(3)-part adventure we started (continued) last week (two weeks ago). Confused? Don’t be. Just listen to last week’s issue, and all will become clear.

CAST:
JOSH: GM
BLINDGEEK: Figgis the Newt (Figgis Newton)
CHRIS: Thomas Quinn (incorrectly named in my opening dialogue; sorry, Chris)
NIKKI: Princess Zephyr (Much too royal for a mere parenthetical!)
PAT: Hickery & Dickery (What *is* it with dwarves coming across princesses in these stories, anyway?)

Also, keep your ears open for details about a small but fun contest we’re running … and also, stick around at the end for a wee surprise … a sort of DVD extra, if you will.

Enjoy the issue … and thanks for listening.

Monkeys Took My Jetpack #3: Princesses, Newts, and Bears, Oh My!

Yes, it’s that time again. Time to curl up with your favorite stuffed animal, loved one, or furry pet of your choice, and listen to a new episode of Monkeys Took My Jetpack. This time, we are playing the fairy-tale role-playing game Zorcerer of Zo. The cast becomes apparent when you listen, so I won’t be redundant about it here. And since there’s only one more link to speak of regarding this issue, rather than set it off in its own section, I’ll just give it to you in this same paragraph. Do yourself a favor and check out Hex Games’s latest product, FratBoys Vs. We announced it in the podcast, so we figured it best to include a link to it. I can tell you that I, for one, am *very* excited about playing it at some point.

As always, thanks for listening, and we hope you enjoy this issue.

Monkeys Took My Jetpack #2: The Mystery of the Robot Box

What’s that you say? You just can’t get enough of the pulpy Wushu goodness that is Pulp Fu? Well, glad to hear it! This week, we present a Wushu game which occurred near the end of October, when Pat was unexpectedly absent. It worked out rather nicely, though, since it gave Chris (and me, come to think of it) a chance to create a Wushu character.

Grab some popcorn, because it just doesn’t get much more cinematic than…

The Mystery of the Robot Box!

Our Cast:
BlindGeek: Gamemaster
Chris: Natasha Houdini
Josh: The Magpie
Nikki: Kai the Jungle Savage

Be warned: Due to an uncertainty of what we were going to play (if anything) once we knew Pat wasn’t able to make it, there’s a pretty fair amount of pre-game banter (although that does include Chris and I creating our characters), so if you want to get to the game instantly, game-play commences at 57:29. You’ll be missing lots of fun schtuff, though, if you skip ahead like that. In any event, no matter how you choose to listen to it, we hope you enjoy the issue.
